Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a skilled and experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join its busy and fast-paced team in Vienna, VA, and Rockville, MD. This is a full-time position for an attorney with at least five years of immigration law experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a variety of immigration cases, including family and employment-based petitions, deportation defense, and asylum applications. This role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment with a diverse clientele.

Duties:

  • Prepare and file a wide range of immigration petitions and applications, including family-based and employment-based cases.
  • Handle immigrant and non-immigrant visa applications, adjustment of status, naturalization/citizenship, and special programs like NACARA, TPS, and EB-5.
  • Manage cases involving deportation/removal defense, including motions to reopen or reconsider and BIA appeals.
  • Represent clients in Immigration Courts, USCIS, ICE, and CBP proceedings.
  • Draft legal briefs, petitions, and motions, ensuring accuracy and clarity in all filings.
  • Provide guidance and advice to clients on immigration-related matters.
  • Maintain detailed and organized case files, meeting deadlines and managing a high caseload.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to ensure the smooth handling of complex cases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing immigration law.
  • Experience handling family-based petitions, employment-based visas (including H-1B and PERM), deportation defense, asylum, and other immigration matters.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on clarity and precision in legal writing.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail in case management and documentation.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure while maintaining client confidentiality and professional integrity.
  • Proficient in immigration law software and platforms.
  • High level of professional ethics and client service orientation.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in Virginia or Maryland (or the ability to be admitted to one of these states).

  • Immigration Law Expertise: In-depth knowledge of immigration law, including family and employment-based visas, deportation defense, and asylum cases.
