Legal Assistant 2 DUTIES:. Manage all aspects of assigned legal matters and projects, including discovery, production and document management. Oversee, edit and prepare correspondence and legal documents for legal counsel. Oversee and administer structured and comprehensive file indexes and case files. Maintain paper and electronic files, arranging depositions, correspondence and calendaring. Draft, prepare and format memoranda, correspondence and other legal documents. Draft and edit policies, procedures. Attend executive and Board of Directors meetings for research and preparation of information for various meetings. Prepare and deliver Board of Director’s materials, responses and reports. Manage and oversee open records process, procedures and liaisons with other departments. Oversee drafting contracts, pleadings, compliance, correspondence and other documents. Oversee and respond to legal process and subpoenas. Create and electronically proof legal documents. File pleadings or other legal documents with courts or regulatory entities. Research and analyze data, e.g., statutes, decisions legal articles, codes, case law and documents. Maintain strong public relations with internal customers and members. Administer internal and external software for programs and functions of the department. Assist in routine audits and monitoring of compliance requirements to ensure all regulatory filings are documented, tracked and meet filing due dates. Develop, implement and analyze metrics and analytics for the department. Develop programs and processes that meet staff and user requirements. Design, write and edit publications for internal or external use. Develop and oversee training programs. Lead projects with business users to ensure clear understanding of the Cooperatives’ legal policies and programs. Conduct statistical, documentary and investigatory research. Maintain the security of confidential information. Stay abreast of advances in technology.
Qualification and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma. Bachelor Degree preferred. Paralegal Certification preferred. 5 years of related legal experience or developing and implementing programs and processes. Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data, configuration, or processing information. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. Knowledge of legal terminology, research methods and techniques and administrative procedures. Skilled in time management. Skilled in prioritizing and managing changing priorities. Skilled in monitoring and managing performance. Ability to write articles, briefing materials and policies. Ability to lead and train others on legal programs and policy implementation. Ability to organize and present legal related materials to all levels of employees. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to listen and understand information verbally and in writing. Ability to anticipate, identify, analyze and resolve conflict and problems.
