Program Specialist (Regional Training Support Specialist), GS 09 The candidate: Serves as coordinator for the Regional Office Incident Qualifications and Certification System (IQCS) managing and maintaining copies of all reports, training records and other related information for red card employees. Serves as contracting officer's representative for Regional Training Center facilities. Serves as the website administrator for the National Training website and maintains the Fire and Aviation Management training websites. Provides advice and counsel to Regional Office, Forest and/or units on training policy and qualifications. Provides administrative support for Regional Training Program instructors and cadre for course delivery, schedules and course logistics. Serves as facilitator and note taker for the Regional Training Committee meetings. Traveling is required.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have the following qualifications:
Basic Requirements: Must possess the basic requirements identified below to be considered eligible for this position. Transcripts must be provided for qualifications based on education.
For GS-9: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level. Examples of specialized experience are: Assisted with administrative support for a large fire training program including maintaining training and qualification program files. Maintained and updated websites with current training information. Used database programs to maintain and prepare program records. Assisted with research and analysis of data collected and compiled from a variety of sources to address problems and issues. Acted as a contracting officer representative (COR). Provided support to internal and external customers regarding regional/national wildland fire training programs in support of programs that covered multiple locations for an agency.
Education - 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or completion of all requirements for an LL.B. or J.D. Graduate education must be directly related to the position being filled and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work.
A combination of graduate level education and specialized experience that is directly related to the position being filled and if combined, meets the qualification requirements for this position.
