Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for supporting the attorneys by handling non-legal tasks so that the attorneys can focus on the legal tasks. Responsibilities will include: Drafting and Review: Review and draft routine legal documents (i.e. Notices of Appearance, Notices of Hearing); Proofread and edit legal documents and letters; Bates number and organize discovery document production; and File routine legal documents. Communicate and coordinate with opposing counsel regarding the scheduling of hearings, depositions, and other meetings; Communicate with outside legal support services (i.e. court reporting services and process servers);Communicate with judicial assistants and clerks regarding minor procedural issues; Communications regarding any cancellations (hearings, depositions, etc.); Communicate with clients regarding invoices. Create and maintain case files; Organize files; Prepare all documents for hearing (copies of motions, oppositions, and notices); Scan documents into file received in the mail/from clients/from judge; Assist attorneys with discovery process. Prepare documents for mailing or Fedex; Sort/deliver mail received; Occasionally travel to courthouse or opposing counsel s office for hand-delivery of documents. File documents/invoices/returns of service; Input time entries; Greet Clients; Facilitate the meeting of attorney's deadlines by keeping organized schedules and providing timely reminders; Assist with other administrative tasks (i.e. ordering supplies and securing catering for firm meetings). Qualifications: Experience as a legal secretary or assistant or paralegal; or Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate. Must be detail oriented, punctual, and able to function in a fast-paced legal setting.
