Legal Assistant - White Collar Criminal Defense
Responsibilities: Maintains and organizes paper and electronic files for extremely high-volume practice. Transcribes dictation for heavy end user attorneys. Enters and reviews time charges for multiple attorneys. Creates, maintains, and retires files in accordance with internal policies. Prioritizes work and monitors court deadlines with the docketing department. Processes and tracks requests for payments and reimbursements for multiple attorneys. Occasionally performs paralegal-type duties. Proficiently uses Microsoft office suite products to compose and edit documents. Has or develops administrative proficiency in the particular practice area or department. Clearly communicates in a concise, professional manner. Assists in managing client contacts, emails and print documents. Proofreads and corrects own work before presenting it. Performs other administrative/clerical duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: Excellent communication and writing skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office 2010 – Word, Outlook, and other software as may be required by the particular assignment. Proficient keyboarding, sufficient to enable incumbent to timely and accurately prepare and revise documents. Ability to adapt to workplace stressors and competing priorities. Maintain client confidentiality. Attention to detail. Proficient in PowerPoint and Excel. Should have 5-7 year of PQE.

Improving upward mobility would be nice, or at least clarifying how associates can climb the ladder should they wish to.

Pros : The benefits offered by this firm are top notch, especially the health insurance. There are also quite a few perks thrown on top that make the overall compensation package very impressive.
Cons : Upward mobility here could be better. I am not sure about the statistics, but I haven't seen many people promoted in the time I've been with the firm.
