Director-Risk, Policy, Education Duties: Accountable for the achievement of all CCI annual goals and objectives and assuring the effectiveness of the NMHC Compliance Program. Lead activities related to the assessment, identification, assessment, and prioritization of compliance and enterprise level risks to inform NMHC Compliance Program priorities. Establish and maintain collaborative working relationship across the health system and among academic medical center partners. Assure the timely delivery of consistently high quality compliance services in a customer focused manner. Keep the VP Integrity fully and appropriately informed of CCI pending issues, investigations and other developments. Effectively utilize data analytics to establish risk-based compliance program priorities. Implement process improvement methodologies to ensure sustainable processes aimed at improving overall compliance. Keep apprised of leading compliance practices in healthcare and other industries and identify ways to implement practices within NMHC. Provide leadership at all levels of the organization to promote a culture of integrity and strengthen the health system compliance program. Serve as a liaison to regions, entities, committees, institutional initiatives, and/or working groups across the health system, as assigned by the VP, Integrity. As required, assist the VP, Integrity in the management of compliance committees. Effectively lead other compliance program initiatives and projects, as assigned by the VP, Integrity. Risk: Assist the VP, Integrity, in conducting compliance risk assessments and the development of compliance program priorities. Effectively employ data analytic capabilities to routinely utilize internal and external data to evaluate risk and inform compliance program priorities. Establish compliance program dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of the NMHC Compliance Program. Assist the VP, Integrity in the management of the NMHC Enterprise Risk Management program. Education: Assure a comprehensive and effective compliance education program for the health system, inclusive of general and subject matter focused training. Responsible for establishing the annual compliance training priorities. Collaborate with other internal stakeholders, including the NM Academy, for the effective implementation of the annual compliance training plan. Ensure a practical approach to training that meets the required regulatory elements while promoting learning and understanding for applicable audiences. Review compliance incident data to evaluate effectiveness of training on behavior. Develop and educational materials, assessment tools, and similar strategies to support management level controls and participation in compliance program requirements. Stay apprised of leading practices in compliance education, in healthcare and other industries, and lead efforts to implement key practices at NMHC. Oversee the content on the CCI department website, ensuring content is up to date, appropriate, and accessible at all levels of the organization. Develop and implement strategies to communicate compliance requirements throughout the organization. Assist the VP, Integrity in the development of presentations, reports and other materials for the Audit Committee, Board of Directors, and/or Senior Leadership regarding compliance program activities and effectiveness. Policies: Ensure CCI departmental policies are developed and updated as appropriate to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Ensure compliance program policies are plain-language and accessible at all levels of the organization. Establish and oversee a process for periodic review of CCI policies and procedures to ensure updated to reflect applicable law, changes at NM, and opportunities identified through CCI work.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Bachelorâ€™s Degree. 5+ years' concentrated healthcare management experience or JD Degree, MBA, MHA or other comparable qualifications. Must have demonstrated exceptional leadership and management abilities. Demonstrated exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across the health system. Proven performance in setting and achieving annual goals and targets. Demonstrated project leadership capabilities, including the timely execution of assigned projects and deliverables. Continuous process improvement orientation. Demonstrated skills in data analytics. Knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulatory requirements. Experience in the analysis of complex and sophisticated compliance issues. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across the health system. Must possess unquestionable integrity, credibility and character with demonstrated high moral and ethical behavior. Must possess incontestable judgment with respect to sensitive information and maintain confidentiality, as required. Must be able to establish and maintain productive working relationships across all levels of the organization and have demonstrated experience in effectively communicating with sophisticated stakeholders (i.e. executive/senior leadership, boards of directors, etc.). Must also have a demonstrated ability to deal with a complex and changing environment and to lead/facilitate change efficiently and effectively, where appropriate. Preferred: JD, MPH, MBA or other comparable qualifications. LL.M in healthcare law or other healthcare-related masterâ€™s degree. Background in project management and process improvement. Background in communication and/or education. Minimum of 10 years concentrated healthcare compliance experience. 5+ years' experience in managing compliance staff in an academic medical center environment. Certification in Healthcare Compliance (â€œCHCâ€).
