Legal Counsel
The candidate will be providing advice and counsel on commercial and government product and services agreements, supplier and sourcing contracts, proposals, distribution and agency agreements. Will be assisting the Vice President, Legal with contractual matters and other commercial legal services to ensure the business unit’s objectives are met. Provide legal advice on a range of legal, regulatory and compliance matters, including commercial regulatory matters and government procurement requirements. Lead, anticipate and drive solutions for a range of legal and business issues. Provide advice regarding customer and other commercial and business disputes. Managing effective use, coordination and oversight of outside counsel and legal spend. Collaborating and working as part of a team with business leaders and other partners to provide innovative solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Developing an understanding of and familiarity with the operation of the company’s business, products, markets, facilities, and customers. Establishing rapport and a working relationship with business managers to encourage and continue proactive use of in-house legal counsel.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have excellent academic credentials which include a JD degree from a top-ranked law school. Must have an admission to the State Bar of Connecticut, or admitted in another U.S. jurisdiction. Should have 3-9 years of legal experience with a focus on business law, commercial contracts, government procurement contracts and other corporate and commercial transactions. Significant experience in drafting and negotiating contracts, licenses and other agreements needed. Strong project and process management skills essential. In-house experience preferred. Public company experience preferred.
