A law firm seeks a dynamic and driven litigation associate attorney to join its Seattle office. The ideal candidate will have a passion for environmental and natural resource law, with 0 to 5 years of experience. Recent law graduates studying for or having passed the bar exam are encouraged to apply. Duties

  • Representing businesses and trade associations in the forest products sector, including landowners, manufacturers, and contractors.
  • Assisting clients in the remediation of contaminated properties, addressing superfund issues, and navigating environmental compliance.
  • Supporting clients in the forest products, fisheries, and maritime industries with site development, environmental permitting, and defending against permit challenges.
  • Defending clients in citizen suits or other claims under environmental statutes such as the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and Endangered Species Act.
  • Engaging in litigation involving policies related to forest products, aquaculture, fisheries, land use, and other natural resources.

Requirements

  • 0 to 5 years of experience in environmental or natural resource law, with a focus on litigation.
  • Strong interest in the legal and business challenges facing resource industries in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Enthusiasm for tackling complex environmental and regulatory issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Bar admission (or expected within a reasonable time frame).

Skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical abilities.
  • Experience or interest in federal and state environmental laws, such as the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and state-specific regulations.
  • Proficient in environmental permitting and litigation practices.
