Equipment Specialist (Machine Tools), GS 11 The candidate will evaluate reports and recommendations on field maintenane functions, operations, techniques and procedures; will conduct investigation, inspection, testing of machines/machine tools, and recommend corrective methods to resolve them; will analyze engineering plans of special machines to identify interchangeability of components/subassemblies; will analyze the conditions of special tools and equipment for tooling projects on nuclear ships; will conduct research studies on new machine developments, methods and techniques; review principles, practices, and policies used in the design, procurement, construction, overhaul, maintenance, modification and repair of equipment; ensure availability of equipment to support production projects; assess special machines/machine tools to identify missing components; You will recommend the redesign of faulty machines/machine tools or the substitution of materials; and assist in avoiding bottlenecks or techical/administrative problems generated by section workloads. Traveling is required.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with a major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position. OR Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, with a major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position. OR Successful completion of an LL.M. degree, with a major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position. OR A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
