The ideal candidate will work closely with inventors, provide insights into patentable inventions, and assist in the patent application. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patent attorneys with drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
- Collaborate with inventors on newly developed products and innovations.
- Identify patentable inventions and ensure compliance with legal standards.
- Research existing patented technologies to advise clients.
- Draft and file patent applications with the support of the patent team.
- Monitor the entire patent application process from submission to approval.
- Perform ability searches to determine patentability.
- Respond to client needs and solve challenges related to patent law.
- Prepare responses to office actions from the . Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Maintain communication with the USPTO and other regulatory bodies.
- Consistently meet established billable hour targets.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering (required).
- Master’s degree or PhD (preferred).
- USPTO registration (required).
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in patent law or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience preferred.
- Background in electrical engineering or biotechnology (preferred).
