Associate General Counsel - International Employment Duties: Provides legal counsel to the corporation; soundly assesses and effectively manages legal risk; has deep understanding of the business, its objectives, and risk tolerances. Provides legal advice, strategic direction and potential solutions on employment issues arising outside of the U.S. (LatAm, EMEA, APAC and Canada) to regional HR and business leaders. In partnership with others, identifies, handles and solves international employment issues, such as TUPE and acquired rights doctrines, works council issues, employment contracts, language requirements and anti-harassment laws. . Oversees, guides and advises on immigration matters and work authorization (U.S.), as well as global mobility and relocation; manages U.S. immigration paralegal. Collaborates with business decision-makers; builds strong relationships with clients as a trusted advisor. Has the proven ability to independently handle complex and critical work, to effectively build consensus and to influence senior leadership. Effectively manages outside counsel (international and immigration) and associated costs; analyzes and ensures cost effectiveness of all activities within area of responsibility.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD degree; in compliance with the rules, including licensing rules, of the State Bar in the state where the attorney is office. 8 + years of legal practice, with an emphasis on international employment law. Demonstrated expertise in at least one region (EMEA, LatAm, or APAC) with developing expertise in other regions. People management experience. Strongly Preferred: Expertise in handling employment issues in multiple regions outside the U.S. and in U.S. immigration law.
