Mission Support Specialist - GS 9 The candidate will provide expert customer service and guidance to USCIS and Refugee, Asylum and International Operations (RAIO) Directorate senior management, supervisors, and staff on complex and sensitive matters relating to domestic and international travel issues. Coordinate travel document requirements for large groups of domestic and international travelers with the Department of State, foreign governments, travel management company, and the USCIS Financial Management Division. Prepare travel authorizations in CONCUR, passport and foreign entry visa requests, Country Clearance notifications and travel restrictions, and the audit travel expense reports Research and conduct analysis of regulations and polices to address problems that arise with domestic and international travel issues and make recommendations to address sensitive travel cases. Perform analysis of travel program needs and develops standard operating procedures and policies for use by the RAIO Directorate. Also plans special projects to review current work flow processes and prepares written reports of findings. Evaluate pertinent travel legislation and new or revised policies or directives from General Services Administration (Federal Travel Regulations), DHS, and USCIS as it applies to the RAIO Directorates domestic and international travel needs. Present policy and process related information orally and in writing to travelers, supervisors, groups, and management to ensure accurate and appropriate protocols are followed.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have following qualifications: GS-09: Should possess 1 year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the federal government, which has equipped with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Must have experience performing the following duties: Using Federal Travel Regulations to prepare travel authorizations and amendments in an electronic travel system for international and domestic travel; Providing assistance, to customers concerning travel-related questions and concerns; Briefing customers on country entry requirements; Correspond with customers/management regarding travel requirements researching, preparing, reviewing, and submitting requests for: Foreign entry visas; Diplomatic and Official passports, and Department of State Country Clearances. OR May also substitute successful completion of a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in an accredited college or university, or a J.D. OR L.L.B. degree may be substituted for experience at the GS-9 grade level. Such education must demonstrate the skills needed to do the work. A course of study in business administration, public administration, or related fields is qualifying. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 36 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 2 years of full-time study requirement.
