Legal Assistant - Health Law Practice Duties: Prepares, edits, and proofreads a variety of litigation and health law documents to include correspondence, agreements and pleadings; Coordinates travel arrangements; Processes expense reports for assigned timekeepers and ensures timely payments; Inputs billable time entry into CarpeDiem for multiple timekeepers; Maintains calendars to include coordination and scheduling of meetings, depositions, court reporters, and conference calls; reserves on-site conference rooms and off-site venues; arranges for food, refreshments, technical equipment, and meeting materials as required; Prepares new matter paperwork and creates new computer and paper files; consolidates and organizes files (including scanning and paper file maintenance); Maintains and updates multiple contact lists using Outlook; Researches and retrieves information from various online resources and databases; Assists timekeepers with various administrative tasks and projects; Responsible for e-filing (CaseFileXpress and Pacer); Maintains confidential information in a professional and trustworthy manner.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: High school diploma. Undergraduate degree is strongly preferred. 4+ years of Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary experience supporting multiple timekeepers. 4+ years of experience supporting multiple litigation attorneys. Some medical malpractice support experience or knowledge of medical terms is preferred. Intermediate to advanced technical skills using Microsoft Office Suite; a working knowledge of Interaction, Westlaw, Pacer, and e-filing protocols is strongly preferred. Prior data base experience and Internet research skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with paralegals, attorneys and clients on a regular basis. Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and to multi-task and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
