Disputes Lawyer Duties: Represents clients from across industries that operate in many corners of the world, each facing a unique set of data protection, privacy and cybersecurity concerns, ranging from business strategy issues to transactions, and from cyber incidents to government investigations and litigation. Advising clients across the globe affords us a 360-degree view of cyber issues that firm leverage to provide advice that is holistic, informed and practical, and reflects industry- and region-specific risks. Advise clients on complex issues associated with both personal and sensitive business data, including its collection, use, storage, disclosure, transfer and destruction. Counsel clients on legal compliance and business strategy relating to privacy and security risk management and cybersecurity and technology transactions. Also offer clients a comprehensive cyber risk management and incident response service which includes assisting clients in developing internal policies and procedures, drafting cyber incident response plans and stress testing those plans by conducting simulated cyber incidents.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Must be admitted to and a member in good standing of the California or Washington, DC Bar. CIPP or other relevant industry certification or specialization preferred. Experience evaluating impact of privacy laws (HIPAA, GLBA, COPPA, GDPR, etc), regulatory guidance, and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on product or service features preferred. Experience in all areas or not on-going active interest in privacy and cybersecurity work required. Strong analytical ability, excellent communication and writing skills required. 3-6 years of privacy and cybersecurity experience in-house or at a large or specialized firm, including advisory (e.g., preparing privacy policies, reviewing online terms and conditions, researching technology law issues, etc.), transactional (e.g., drafting and negotiating technology agreements and vendor contracts), and/or crisis management (e.g., responding to a data security incident or a government inquiry from the Federal Trade Commission or State Attorneys General).
