Legal Assistant/Paralegal Candidate will assist in daily operations/administrative tasks of the firm and to perform tasks related to litigation. Practice areas of the firm include commercial litigation, real estate, probate, family law and construction law. Duties will include: Answering telephones and checking voicemail system; Checking emails and responding to emails; Scheduling and coordinating meetings with clients, mediations, court hearings, depositions (including coordination with process servers and court reporters), etc.; Generation of standard pleadings;-Scanning, printing and copying documents; Mail/Fed-Ex documents; Requesting records (from clients, opposing counsel, clerkâ€™s office, etc.); E-filing pleadings with the Courts; Creating, updating, organizing and otherwise maintaining individual client files; Categorizing/organizing discovery documents; Creating trial notebooks; Interacting with clients; Assistance in creating time-slips to be used for billing clients; Accepting and processing payments made by clients.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Prior legal assistant experience; 2+ years of experience working in a law office that handles litigation; Experience with e-filing documents; Experience with preparation of family law financial affidavits, mandatory disclosure, child support guideline worksheets, etc.; and Experience in drafting standard pleadings filed in civil cases.Superior communication skills (written and verbal); Superior word processing (WordPerfect or Microsoft Word) knowledge; Superior organizational skills; Superior attention to detail; Punctuality; Ability to multi-task; Positive attitude and ability to work well with others; Great customer service to clients; Understanding the importance of deadlines and managing tasks accordingly; Honesty/trustworthiness; and Confidence.
