Paralegal (Litigation) Responsibilities: Manages the day to day handling of asbestos toxic tort cases which are assigned to an attorney/paralegal team. Manage the case from the date the case is answered through the trial. Initial case preparation; Update case management database; Utilize the Calendaring System; Draft client specific pretrial discovery and monitoring the responses; Draft an executive summary and case summary; Follow up on all depositions and compiling the deposition summaries; Compile materials for attorneys who are attending various court appearances, depositions and trials; Make the initial determination regarding product identification; Compile summary judgment materials and exhibits; Subpoena Trust documents; Subpoena and notice co-worker and expert depositions; All phases of trial preparation, including jury questionnaires, trial binders, exhibit binders motions in limine and more; Other duties as may be assigned to fully meet the billable requirements.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Paralegal certificate. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. 5+ years of litigation experience including extensive trial support experience. Ability to satisfy California Business and Professions Code Sections 6450 et. seq. At each step in the process the paralegal has a central role in the progress of a case. Should be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment and be able to work with limited supervision. Attention to detail and strong computer skills, including MS Word, Outlook, Excel and Summation are essential. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Professional demeanor and the ability to interact effectively. Ability to assess priorities and efficiently manage workload.
