Paralegal - Legal Assistant The candidate will maintain calendar for self, and coordinate with legal assistant assigned to attorneys for whom you perform projects to ensure appropriate and timely docketing of deadlines and events. Will ensure attorneys have for meetings, depositions, or court appearances all documents and files needed for that event. Schedule depositions as requested, and ensure scheduling of court reporter. Process incoming and outgoing mail daily that is addressed or directed to you. Notify proper attorney and/or staff of any time-sensitive correspondence and follow up to ensure a timely response. Mail, fax, or arrange for delivery of legal correspondence to clients, witnesses, and court officials. Locate and communicate with witnesses, and keep accurate records of the contents of the communications and the contact information for witnesses. Timely save all documents to the proper electronically maintained client sub directory. Assist attorneys as needed in obtaining and reviewing medical, employment, and other such records. Attend meetings as requested, and take notes as needed. Interview witnesses and record or take notes of the interviews. Work with legal assistants to ensure that contact information is kept current on all files including case sheets, any billing changes and witness files. Prepare and maintain online directories and subdirectories. Should be proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with other Microsoft Office products, Orion Software and Worldox data management will be helpful.
