A law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Digital Risk Advisory And Cyber-Security Associate Attorney to join their team in Chicago, IL. This role is pivotal in providing expert legal counsel on proactive and reactive privacy and data protection compliance matters. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in privacy and cybersecurity, with a strong ability to manage complex issues and collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on privacy and data protection compliance, including data security incidents and regulatory investigations.
  • Handle state, federal, and international data security incident notification obligations.
  • Defend clients during regulatory investigations related to privacy and security.
  • Manage and lead projects related to privacy and cybersecurity breach response.
  • Collaborate with technically-skilled individuals and distill complex technical issues for non-technical team members.
  • Develop and implement strategies for complying with contractual and legal obligations related to data security.
  • Monitor and interpret data privacy and security laws and regulations to provide up-to-date advice.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive written and oral communications to clients and stakeholders.
  • Anticipate and address potential issues in a fast-paced, complex workload environment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, with a focus on proactive and reactive compliance matters.
  • Proven experience advising on privacy and security obligations, data security incident notifications, and defending regulatory investigations.
  • Experience with privacy and cybersecurity breach response, either in a law firm or in-house setting, or through litigation.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Awareness of data privacy and security laws and regulations.
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Capability to interact effectively with technical experts and distill key issues for non-technical audiences.
  • Professional commitment and strong interpersonal skills to succeed in a collaborative team environment.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar membership in good standing.
