Quality Risk Coordinator The candidate assists with the day-to-day activities of the Risk Management Program at both East and Prattville facilities. Works in collaboration with the operational leadership, the quality management team, System VP of Quality and Patient Safety, and Legal Counsel to mitigate risk; empower identification of actual and potential risk, reporting and mitigation; proactively identify and manage risks to improve patient care. Provides excellent service to all customers, meeting or exceeding their expectations, to ensure continuous improvement of customer focused environment. Updates Risk Management policies and procedures to ensure current with regulatory and legal requirements. Collaborates with system leadership in the identification and resolution of potential risks related to systems, processes and clinical issues. Coordinates risk identification, investigation, loss prevention, loss reduction and risk mitigation; performs risk surveys. Maintains awareness of legislative and regulatory activities related to healthcare risk management; maintains a network of informational/knowledge sources and experts. Manages Adverse Event Reporting system and develops reports to identify trends; identifies potentially compensable events. Investigates and analyzes actual and potential risks, assesses liability and probability of legal action and notifies Claims and Litigation teammates from all sources including patient complaints/grievances Assists in disclosure of medical error. Monitors, evaluates, and advises on all high-risk clinical issues. Familiarizes self with and networks with community health agencies/resources that may be utilized in the management of high-risk clinical issues. Assists teammates in addressing risk questions. Participates in and supports organizational committees as appropriate. Coordinates and/or performs projects/activities as assigned. Identifies the educational needs of clinicians, clinical staff, and others as indicated. Provides risk education for orientation and on an as needed basis. Consults with outside legal counsels as needed. Uses, protects, and discloses HCP patients' protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have 5+ years of acute care hospital clinical experience with a Bachelors degree in nursing or health care field. 1-3 years of experience in hospital risk management is preferred. Bachelor Degree in Healthcare Related Field and professional certification requiring formal education beyond a four-year college is considered. Should have JD degree or an advanced degree in Health Administration, Law or related field is preferred. License / Certification of Valid Alabama RN license is required for nursing. Risk licensure or CPHRM is preferred or within 2 years of hire date. Must be proficient with Word, Excel, and other Microsoft applications. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must be self directed and highly motivated with problem solving abilities.
