Associates can expect good training, including more hands-on work than in other firms offering similar levels of sophistication in the practice. Paralegal - Personal and Succession Planning The candidate will support members of the Personal and Succession Planning practice group. Will value assets, either manually or by use of computer programs, including required research. Prepare inventory and other court required filings. Prepare estate tax returns. Provide information regarding filing deadlines and/or other deadlines for inclusion on the firm-wide docket. Contact court and other agencies in order to process filings, record deeds and other conveyances, and, when required, to personally file estate documents. Arrange distributions to or on behalf of beneficiaries. Coordinate income tax information with accountants. Draft deeds and other transfer documents to fund revocable trusts. Research state and county records to obtain information on business entities and heirs. Review brokerage statements. Arrange distributions to or on behalf of beneficiaries. Prepare reports to beneficiaries. Coordinate income tax information with accountants. Meet with clients and responsible attorney. Draft estate planning documents. Draft deeds and other transfer documents to fund revocable trusts. Prepare projections of estimated estate taxes, net estate to family members. The candidate should have a four-year degree or equivalent experience. Degree in Paralegal Studies or paralegal certificate preferred. Must have familiarity with the Ohio Probate Law and MS Office programs. Experience with the following software is highly desired: LEXIS, Estate Val XP, Financial Partner, Perfect Forms, Brentmark IRS Factors Calculator, Brentmark Charitable Financial Partner, GEMS (Gillette Estate Management System) 706-OH, Thomson Fast-Tax FPS FIT 1041 (Fiduciary Income Tax), Thomson Fast-Tax PPS FAS (Fiduciary Accounting System). Must be proficient in drafting and revising documents with exceptional writing and proofreading skills.
