Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a detail-oriented and ambitious Associate Attorney to join its legal team in Oakland, CA. This role is ideal for a newly admitted attorney with a strong interest in civil liability defense, including product liability, premises liability, transportation, and construction defense litigation. The selected candidate will gain valuable hands-on experience in litigation within a collaborative and supportive legal environment.
Duties:
Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis.
Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
Represent clients in hearings, depositions, and mediations.
Work closely with senior attorneys and partners to develop case strategies.
Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel.
Manage caseload efficiently to meet deadlines and case objectives.
Requirements:
0-2 years of experience in general civil liability, construction defect, or insurance defense litigation.
Strong research, analytical, and legal writing abilities.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
Active membership in the California State Bar.
Skills:
Strong litigation and case management capabilities.
Attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
Ability to analyze complex legal matters and craft strategic solutions.
Effective negotiation and advocacy skills.
Proficiency in legal research platforms and case management software.
