Senior Counsel Field Operations (Virtual role- West Region)
The candidate will be responsible for providing practical, timely, and high-quality legal services to the Region business team, including Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, Supply Chain, and Operations. The ultimate responsibility of this position is to facilitate the business objectives of the Company by providing timely and effective legal support to the respective Region, and to minimize potential legal exposure and risk. Serves as the key legal partner to the Region leadership team on matters including contract formation and interpretation, regulatory oversight and compliance, investigations, HR/personnel matters, and litigation/dispute resolution. Establishes a strong rapport and working relationship with the Region President and Region Functional Field Leaders to help drive the delivery of effective and high-quality legal services. Collaborates with and provides direction to Corporate Counsel on a variety of contract and commercial issues. Develops a thorough understanding of and familiarity with the Company’s business, its people, markets, facilities, customers and competitors, in order to advise the Region Leadership Team. Analyzes complex commercial/business concepts and identifies relevant legal issues and related, real-world risks; provides prompt, clear and practical legal analysis, advice, and solutions; and generally assists the business in achieving its goals. Utilizes high-level communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively communicate with various levels of staff and management, and in various settings. Advises, counsels, and actively participates in the development of regional and corporate procedures, practices, and systems that support business objectives, mitigate risks, and facilitate a culture of compliance. Exercises sound legal judgment while acting as a key partner for internal business stakeholders; acts independently and prioritizes tasks while taking into account relevant risk, business and objectives, and Associate General Counsel input. Should have Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school. should be Licensed to practice law and in good standing under the Bar of any state that enables admission to practice as in-house counsel. Must have 3+ years law firm or in-house experience, including both California federal labor and employment law. Should foster an in-depth understanding of labor and employment issues affecting the foodservice industry, including employment discrimination laws and OSHA, FLSA, ADA and DOT regulation and compliance. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to inspire trust and confidence with stakeholders at all levels. Should have working knowledge of U.S. regulatory requirements governing the sale of goods and services to federal and state funded organizations, including U.S. anti-kickback, anti-bribery and antitrust laws, preferred.
