IP Paralegal
Duties: Support global patent processes with a core set of tasks and responsibilities as a patent paralegal, under limited instruction; Support attorneys or agents with their patent and trademark prosecution dockets; Participate in weekly or bi-weekly docket meetings with patent and/or trademark attorneys; Organize, schedule and participate in patent committee and invention disclosure meetings. Review docket for deadlines; understand docket and deadlines and action needed on each matter; Create and prepare reports Assist with the development and maintenance of the patent life cycle process. Partner with Outside Counsel and communicate directly regarding patent and trademark prosecution requirements for both US and non-US matters; Remain abreast of new Patent Office Rules and filing procedures, alert the IP Team of new procedures and rules relating to patent or trademark practice and attend appropriated training classes; Design and implement new policies, procedures, or systems related to the IP Team operations or administration.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: A degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate and/or a Bachelor’s Degree is desirable. 2 years of related working experience as a patent or IP paralegal, preferably in a corporate IP department, or law firm. Knowledge of all areas of administrative support for a corporate patent law practice is critical. Some trademark paralegal experience would e a plus. Demonstrated history of successfully supporting patent attorneys in the preparation and prosecution of US and non -US patent matters. Proficiency in US, PCT,and other country law as it relates to prosecution and deadlines Willing and eligible to be commissioned as a notary public in California Strong proficiency using MS Office, particularly Excel, Word and Powerpoint; Adobe Acrobat, and a least one IP docketing system. Experience using various software tools including PAIR and ESPace. Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Proven track record in working autonomously Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to handle multiple shifting priorities simultaneously. Familiarity in working in global teams with multiple stakeholders (attorneys and managers). Team player willing to pitch in to help out and do what is necessary to get the job done, not just doing what is their particular job function but also helping others on the team when necessary and capable.
