Senior Attorney The candidate will be representing office in "Officer Discipline" actions, including hearings at the Division of Administrative Hearings, on administrative license discipline cases involving law enforcement, correctional, and correctional probation officers. Working in a team of three prosecuting attorneys, must evaluate cases for probable cause, as well as proceed with license disciplinary actions, must present the case through witnesses and evidence before an Administrative Law Judge, must argue in favor of proposed findings of fact and imposition of a disciplinary penalty, effectively present cases for final agency action before the 19-member Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. Provides legal services and advice to the staff of the firm Criminal Justice Professionalism Program, which supports the CJSTC's efforts. Additional duties include providing legal services and advice in criminal, civil, legislative, and administrative matters for the Department at the direction of the General Counsel, including reviewing administrative rules and policies, contracts, leases, fiscal authority, public records, information systems and personnel/employment concerns. From time to time, the incumbent will be assigned legal training and presentation responsibilities.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must be member of the Florida Bar for two or more years as of 04/01/2018. Should have 2+ years of experience as a Florida prosecutor (Assistant State Attorney or Assistant Statewide Prosecutor). Command of Florida criminal law and evidence and have effective trial skills is required. Administrative and appellate experience is a plus.
