Job Title: Senior Labor Law Associate Attorney (Construction Focus)

Job Overview:

A reputable law firm is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Labor Law Associate Attorney with deep expertise in New York labor laws, specifically within the construction industry. This role involves providing legal counsel and representation to construction companies, contractors, and workers. The attorney will focus on cases related to safety regulations, wage and hour disputes, union negotiations, and compliance with New York Labor Law, particularly Section 240 ("Scaffold Law"). The ideal candidate will be experienced in litigation and able to manage multiple high-stakes cases.

Duties:

• Litigate construction-related labor law cases, focusing on workplace safety, accidents, and Scaffold Law liability.
• Represent clients in wage and hour disputes, prevailing wage claims, and worker misclassification cases.
• Advise construction companies on compliance with federal, state, and local labor regulations, including OSHA standards.
• Handle union negotiations and disputes involving contractors and trade groups.
• Draft and review employment agreements, contractor agreements, and workplace policies related to construction.
• Mentor junior associates and collaborate with partners on complex construction labor law cases.
• Conduct legal research and develop effective litigation strategies.
• Work closely with claims representatives and clients, providing insights and legal guidance throughout the litigation process.

Requirements:

• Must be barred in New York.
• 4-6 years of experience in New York labor law, particularly related to the construction industry.
• Proven ability to handle complex labor law cases.
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in legal drafting, case management software, and tools.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Experience managing billable hours and documenting work accurately.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in New York.

Certifications:

• Current New York State Bar membership.

Skills:

• Expertise in New York construction labor laws, particularly Section 240 (Scaffold Law).
• Strong litigation, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage high-stakes, complex cases.
