Counsel Specific responsibilities for this role will include the following: Advise business lines on servicing and collections requirements in connection with existing and new products and processes. Work to resolve issues raised by customers, agencies and regulators, and advise business lines on remediation projects. Assist in connection with submission of regulatory filings and prudential examinations. Act as a liaison with outside law firms engaged to represent the company. Develop legal assessments, interpretations, recommendations, and opinions on laws, policies and regulatory issues. Monitor regulatory communications and significant legislation that may affect business lines within responsibility. As needed, assist in the negotiation and closing of acquisition and disposition transactions. Review and draft internal policies and procedures. Standard document review which includes both customer-facing and corporate documents. Respond to issues from Executive Management. Assist with highly-sensitive, highly-confidential high-profile matters. Lead or participate in other legal projects and matters as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have JD degree from an accredited high caliber law school. Admission or eligibility for admission to the Bar in one or more states in which Citizens Bank conducts business. Should have 2+ years of consumer financial services legal experience, including related federal and state legal and regulatory requirements. Strong drafting and verbal communication skills. Must be able to manage and progress projects independently without supervision. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
