Corporate Counsel Duties: Provide legal advice and counseling across enterprise functions and store operations. Manage legal matters attendant to the purchase, sale, development, and management of company real estate – primarily through management of outside counsel. Provide contract review and negotiatio n services across enterprise functions. Manage litigation handled by outside counsel (in areas such as employment, real estate, and environmental), including the coordination of discovery and litigation holds. Assist Compliance Officer in the maintenance and enforcement of company policies and code of conduct. Assist the director of legal services in providing counsel and advice on enterprise-level projects, corporate development, intellectual property matters, corporate governance and trust governance. Keeping informed of industry-specific regulations and managing responses to government investigations and information requests. Assist in the management and enforcement of the enterprise information governance and document retention program. Advise purchasing department and coordinate with purchasing department, manufacturers, and government agencies. Advising and implementing company strategy for handling government affairs and lobby efforts.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD degree is required. 5+ years’ experience in a private law firm or corporate legal department. Ability to read, analyze and interpret federal and state statutes and regulations, general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures. Ability to effectively and professionally write reports, memoranda, business correspondence, and internal communications. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from stores, HQ and Prineville business units, customers, and the general public. Ability to successfully use Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
