Eviction Diversion Program Court Liaison Duties: Review eviction docket(s) for assigned court(s) in advance of the hearing date and searches cases in the ERA application database to see if any parties have an active case file. Updates parties and court on the status of active applications, if applicable. Provides information to landlords and tenants with cases before the Circuit Court on available ERA assistance and encourages them to apply. Answers any questions the parties may have about ERA program and application. Determines if tenant is willing to apply for ERA assistance and if landlord is willing to accept payment in exchange for not proceeding with eviction. Assists parties willing to apply for ERA assistance in completing ERA application online in space provided by the Circuit Court. If landlord will not accept ERA payment, assists tenant in completing application and describes how direct payment will be made and additional documentation required. If neither landlord or tenant can be reached, contact any third parties to the Forcible Detainer Complaint, such as attorneys, to obtain contact information for landlord and/or tenant. Provides references to local homeless programs/providers of financial assistance/supportive services if persons being evicted lack alternate housing resources. Time needed to drive to assigned Court(s) on eviction docket dates. Follows up with Eviction Diversion Application Specialists to ensure prompt processing of applications completed via court outreach. As required, conducts outreach to tenant applicants and/or landlord applicants after their court appearance to seek additional information about an application or account Uses the ERA application database to record pertinent information gathered via court and follow-up interactions with applicants in the comments tab of the ERA application database. Maintains travel and expense documentation. Other duties and projects as assigned. Performs special tasks and projects as assigned and assists with other ERA tasks when needed.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: This level of knowledge would normally be acquired through completion of some post-secondary education. An additional 2 years’ direct experience may substitute for education requirements. 1+ year’s experience working in a responsible position in a professional office environment. Experience in the legal field preferred (paralegal, attorney, Legal Aid, etc.). Knowledge of MS Office Suite products and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people, including external contacts as well as cross-departmental teams; ability to multitask; ability to deal effectively with conflict; ability to work well under high pressure situations; position requires problem-solving skills and attention to detail to ensure a high level of accuracy. Ability to resolve problems or complaints while working on multiple tasks simultaneously. Knowledge of: Grant programs/compliance monitoring. Word processing/spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Word/Excel. Basic rules of grammar and business writing. Basic mathematic principles. Skill in: Collecting, analyzing and evaluating data. Dealing with a diverse group of external and internal contacts at all levels. Analyzing problems and reaching solutions. Ability to: Plan and organize work activities. Prepare reports. Present ideas effectively. Handle sensitive/confidential information. Travel extensively throughout the state which may include overnight stays. Work in unsupervised environment.
