Family Law Legal Assistant Duties: Welcomes guests and clients by greeting them in person or on the telephone; answering or directing inquiries. Obtains case information from potential new clients and performs a conflict check. Manages attorneyâ€™s calendar including client meetings, hearings, professional meetings, trials, conferences, networking events. Formats and files pleadings. Calendars and manages deadlines. Drafts basic motions, letters and documents. Proof reads all documents. Schedules hearings, depositions, attorney meetings. Maintains files. Assists attorney preparing for hearings and trials. Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact; communicating case progress.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: High school or equivalent. 3-5 years' Family law experience. Very organized and extremely professional and personable candidate who is able to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong legal secretarial background is required (minimum typing speed of 60 wpm), with experience in family law highly preferred. Extensive experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, E-filing and time entry is required. Experience with TimeSlips is a plus. Experienced legal assistant that is detail oriented, has excellent time management skills, strong organizational skills, and a tremendous work ethic.
