Legal Assistant
The candidate will answer telephone, calendar appointments, and take messages. Will gather, track and record client data. Meet with clients, gather supporting documents, prepare translations. Engage in community outreach. Prepare filings for immigration court and for the Department of Homeland Security. Manage both electronic and paper case file including client case log. Handle incoming and outgoing mail. Previous experience working in a law office is preferred. Demonstrated experience working with immigrant, low-income and/or vulnerable population is essential. Excellent written and oral communication skills are needed. Excellent organizational skill is needed. Proficient in use of technology including MS Office, Google Apps and Internet research is essential. Fluency (written and verbal) in both the Spanish and English languages is needed.
