Paralegal Responsibilities: Perform a broad range of mid-level legal and compliance projects while working closely and effectively with the Legal and Compliance Department and other Sarah Cannon Departments. Monitor and maintain contract database by (1) reviewing contracts to determine contract types, (2) assigning user permissions, (3) creating template agreements (4) developing standard contract report templates(5) completing annual audit (6) updating system and providing education related to quarterly releases. Provide general assistance and answer questions including training and development of job aides related to Sarah Cannonâ€™s online contract database and workflows. Review, develop and draft clinical trial and research study related agreements (template and non-template), vendor agreements, physician consulting, CDAs and other agreements, with supervision. Responsible for ICF revisions, as assigned. Assist with Clinical Research Service Agreements. Assist with new hire training, as needed. Provide general assistance and answer questions related to Sarah Cannonâ€™s online contract database and workflows. Assist Sr. Paralegal with development of Sarah Cannon Physician Agreements to include tracking until fully executed and updating status in Novatus. Assist with SOP release requests. Conduct general research on basic legal and compliance issues. Prepare initial drafts of basic legal agreements from templates. Review basic legal agreements and provide feedback to internal departments and/or third parties. Track contracts from final draft through execution. Assist Sr. Paralegal with Conflict of Interest Program tasks and Financial Disclosure Forms, as assigned. Perform back-up administrative duties including composing correspondence, scheduling meetings and coordinating resources across corporate functions. Attend meetings regarding operational and/or contract issues. Keep abreast of HCA and Sarah Cannon policies, legal department processes and other rules that affect the work of the Legal Department. Update agreement resource guides (e.g., IST CTA Review Summary, CRO CTA Review Manual, MSA Review Manual, contract checklists), as assigned. Prepare PowerPoint presentations, letters and other correspondence. Answer inquiries and/or refer callers/visitors to appropriate person/department. Handle various administrative activities with initiative and good judgment. Create and submit expense reports for attorneys and Director of Compliance, upon request. Notarize documents. Participate in educational activities and programs. Maintain strictest confidentiality of company-related information. All other duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Associates Degree (2 year program). Bachelorâ€™s College Degree (4 year program) preferred. 1 year of prior paralegal or comparable experience is required. Appropriate education may be substituted for partial experience. 3-5 years of prior legal or comparable administrative experience is preferred. Appropriate education may be substituted for partial experience. Experience working across multiple cross functional teams in clinical research (i.e. CRO, Site Management Organization, Corporate lines of business, etc.). Experience in oncology. Knowledge: A body of information needed to perform tasks; May be obtained through education, training or experience Knowledge of contract management process and principles to include basic to moderate contract review Basic understanding of legal terminology Skills: The proficiency to perform a certain task Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills High level of proficiency with MS Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Experience managing a contract database Abilities: An underlying, enduring trait useful for performing duties Ability to pay attention to detail Ability to utilize resources to solve problems with minimal supervision Ability to manage multiple overlapping deadlines related to a large number of complex contract issues Ability to assert Companyâ€™s position during routine contract negotiations Ability to persuade/influence opposing party during contract negotiations Ability to determine when to escalate issues to internal counsel Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team Ability to meet critical time-sensitive objectives Proven ability to work in a fast paced, high stress environment.
