Director, Business and Legal Affairs The candidate duties involve complex legal analysis, negotiation, and drafting skills, as well as the ability to balance legal versus business considerations to present to appropriate business people. Provides occasional project oversight of paralegals, interns, law clerks and assistants. Focus on the Latin American market. Drafting and negotiating the terms for a variety of acquisition, content distribution, production, advertising, sponsorship, development and miscellaneous other agreements related to the International Sports business. Analyzing contracts and advising senior executives on legal rights and responsibilities, to assist in business development, litigation risk assessment, contractual compliance and other legal matters. Partnering with internal clients on business decisions, to assist in litigation avoidance, as well as provide contractual education for parties involved in contractual negotiations. Oversee 1 lower-level subordinate consisting of a Legal Assistant. Must have Juris Doctorate (JD) degree. Should have 5+ years of transactional legal or attorney experience in a law firm or an entertainment company. (Will accept Master of Laws (LLM) in lieu of a JD.) Experience must include 3 years of law practice in a Latin American jurisdiction. Also requires experience in: Drafting and negotiating complex sports content acquisition agreements, media license and distribution agreements, original programming and production agreements, media production-related service agreements, advertising and sponsorship agreements, marketing agreements, and talent agreements for a wide variety of content distribution models, including linear television and digital platforms; Handling matters relating to international sports television and digital content industries. Providing risk assessments to senior executives in connection with marketing and promotional campaigns. Interacting and providing occasional project oversight over to junior lawyers, interns, paralegals and assistants. Must be an active member of the California or Florida Bar.
