Responsibilities:

Handle a high volume of criminal cases, including conducting investigations, drafting search warrants and prosecution memoranda, and conducting hearings and trials.
Work closely with law enforcement agencies, including the New York City Police Department and federal agencies, to investigate and prosecute violent criminal enterprises.
Utilize investigative techniques such as wiretapping and undercover operations to build successful cases against offenders.
Collaborate with community groups and leaders to deter gang violence.
Work as part of a team with other bureaus in the District Attorney's Office.
Maintain strict adherence to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Draft complex legal documents within tight timeframes.
Conduct hearings and trials, including eliciting expert testimony and introducing digital evidence.
Familiarity with computer technology and electronic review, redaction, and production of discovery in complex cases.



Requirements:

At least three years of litigation and investigative experience.
Strong writing and investigative skills.

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

The Kings County District Attorney’s Office is seeking experienced attorneys to join our dynamic Violent Criminal Enterprises Bureau as Lateral Assistant District Attorneys. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of litigation and investigative experience, strong writing and investigative skills, and the ability to handle a high volume of work with strict adherence to deadlines.

As a Lateral Assistant District Attorney in the Violent Criminal Enterprises Bureau, you will have the opportunity to work on high-profile cases involving structured criminal organizations such as gangs, firearms traffickers, and violent narcotics organizations operating in Brooklyn. Our bureau uses innovative investigative strategies, including social media and digital evidence analysis, to build successful conspiracy and violence cases against offenders and dismantle these violent enterprises.

In this role, you will work closely with the New York City Police Department, federal agencies, and internal detective investigators to investigate and prosecute known drivers of crime who have committed serious offenses such as murder, attempted murder, reckless endangerment, possession and sale of firearms, and other violent offenses. You will also partner with community groups and leaders in an effort to deter gang violence.

In addition, our bureau also investigates and prosecutes high-level narcotics trafficking using advanced investigative techniques such as wiretapping and the use of undercover officers. As a Lateral Assistant District Attorney, you will play a crucial role in the team-based approach to our cases, working closely with attorneys, analysts, and paralegal staff to handle the breadth and complexity of our investigations.

We are looking for individuals with a proven record of guiding investigative teams in long-term, proactive investigations into complex criminal organizations involved in violent crime. Excellent investigative skills, strong writing skills, and court room advocacy skills are also highly preferred. Familiarity with computer technology and electronic discovery in complex cases is a plus.
