ProfileManager, Electricity Markets The candidate will serve as project manager for one or more U.S. energy projects related to deep decarbonization, electricity market design, innovative utility regulatory policy, and/or promotion of zero and low-carbon energy, demand response, energy storage and energy efficiency. Will monitor and manage project deliverables, setting and clarifying priorities, and ensuring high-quality deliverables. Engage with and lead activities as part of a partnership team working with companies and other large buyers on renewable energy deployment and electric utility engagements. Monitor and manage project budget performance, expenses and revenue. Support fund raising and grants management and other activities as needed. Conduct research and analysis related to deep decarbonization, electricity market design, innovative utility regulatory policy, and/or promotion of zero and low-carbon energy, demand response, energy storage and energy efficiency. Demonstrate pathways forward to deploy zero and low-carbon energy, demand response, energy storage, and energy efficiency technologies and improve electricity market design and utility regulation. Track the scale and pace of decarbonization of the electric sector in the US including deployment of clean energy technologies in key sectors (transportation, industry, buildings, etc.). Develop project-related knowledge products (reports, working papers, etc.) that follow WRI research guidelines. Provide internal peer review and support for WRI Energy program publications. Promote energy knowledge sharing across WRI network. Review and synthesize analysis from national labs, universities, and other researchers on various aspects of U.S. climate and energy policy, with a focus on: Economic benefits of clean energy solutions at the subnational level. Policy levers for state, local, and private action on electric sector decarbonization. Develop project influence strategies and execute them in collaboration with WRI senior managers and communications experts. Develop and lead others to develop highly effective presentations for internal and external audiences, and make presentations to such audiences. Represent WRI at select conferences, workshops and other events. Manage writing and review of Energy Program blogs and other web content.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Master’s Degree in environmental policy, energy policy, economics, public policy or related field, or a relevant law degree is needed. Should have 5-7 years of relevant experience managing, conducting, and publishing research on energy, environment, sustainability, climate change, or related fields, particularly in the United States. Broad knowledge of the U.S. electricity sector and energy sector, more broadly is needed. Deep knowledge and strong research record in deep decarbonization, electricity market design, innovative utility regulatory policy, and/or zero and low-carbon energy, demand response, energy storage and energy efficiency is essential. Knowledge of public policies and private actions leading to deployment of low- and zero-carbon energy and improved energy efficiency is needed. Excellent writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills across a range of stakeholders, including senior corporate or governmental leadership are needed. Experience working across programmatic or thematic boundaries are needed. Excellent interpersonal skills in cross-cultural communication and engagement with diverse constituencies are needed. Experience in using Microsoft Office suite is needed.
