Director Global Legal Affairs The candidate will provide day to day counseling and legal assistance to human resources and business units on all aspects of labor and employment law. Handle, direct, and manage attorney-led L&E investigations and help improve the company’s global investigation processes. Provide sound strategic and tactical advice and counsel in an expedited, responsive manner. Develop, update and advise on employee policies and processes in close collaboration with the HR community. Serve as primary counsel for labor and employment pre-litigation disputes, attorney-led investigations, charge responses, and audits. For matters in litigation, support and collaborate with the Litigation legal team. Proactively inform, develop and train the HR community on labor and employment laws and regulations, including developing and delivering training programs. Partner with HR on plant and location openings, closings, and reductions in force, acquisitions and divestitures. Assist with and/or initiate and drive HR related projects and other special projects. Draft employment, separation and other contractual agreements. Work on labor and employment matters in locations outside of the US. Collaborate with key clients to help drive process improvements, develop templates and self-service systems and tools, and risk mitigation strategies and practices. J.D. or equivalent degree and a member in good standing of a State Bar and 10+ years of legal experience - both in a law firm and in an in-house setting - ideally 3+ years in-house, preferably with a global manufacturing or industrial company required. Strong: knowledge of full range of US labor and employment law including employment litigation, non-competion and confidentiality, restructurings and RIFs, anti-discrimination, anti-retalitaion, wage and hour, leave laws, etc.; business acumen with a commercial business-oriented approach to problem solving, tempered by an appreciation for legal complexity and risk required. Superior legal and analytical skills – excellent judgment and initiative required. Excellent interpersonal/people and collaboration skills (including the ability to influence and build relationships) able to interact effectively at all levels of the organization and able to stand firm on issues when necessary required. International labor and employment legal experience is a plus. Working knowledge of global data privacy regulations is a plus. Fluency in a second language, such as Spanish or Mandarin, is a plus.
