Patent Counsel The candidate will work closely with Therapeutics’ scientists to identify, evaluate and protect innovations. Will also provide business-focused legal advice to key stakeholders on intellectual property and legal matters. In addition, will manage multiple projects in a fast-moving and results-oriented environment. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and prosecute US and foreign patent applications in gene therapy field. Conduct prior art analyses. Identify, evaluate and protect new intellectual property. Develop intellectual property strategies. Conduct due diligence, patentability, validity and freedom to operate reviews. Draft, negotiate and review various agreements including confidentiality, material transfer, research, data use, consulting, service, clinical trial and license agreements. Provide prompt legal counsel on intellectual property and legal matters. Work with outside counsel as needed. Must have Bachelor’s degree in Biology or Chemistry. Advanced life sciences degree preferred. Should have Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school. Must have 4 -10 years of experience working in a law firm or in-house legal department of a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company. Must be Licensed to practice in at least one state. Should be Admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Must have understanding/experience in gene therapy.
