Real Estate Attorney The candidate will play an integral role in the department; responsible for negotiating and drafting complex leases, lease amendments and related documents. Will have proven success as a Real Estate Attorney with expertise in leasing and the ability to successfully work independently, yet also thrive in a team-oriented environment. Prepare and negotiate complex leases and ancillary lease documents, as well as lease amendments and other agreements. Conduct due diligence, including title work. Assist the Director of Leasing & Licensing in responding to issues and requests from our landlords, from our operations personnel in the field, and from various corporate departments (Accounting, Development, Risk, Executive, etc.) regarding our leases and related issues.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have 3 years of real estate leasing experience. (In-house experience is preferred, but not required. Focus on shopping center work, retail leasing, and/or development is not required, but a plus.). Bachelorâ€™s Degree is required. J.D. degree from accredited law school is required. Must be admitted to the CA bar [or any bar that will satisfy CA requirements for in-house practice] and in good standing. Must have comprehensive skill and significant experience in negotiating leases, with ability to prepare, understand and interpret complex leases, contracts and other key agreements and apply them correctly to situations. Must have experience counseling clients or internal business teams on leasing, lease disputes and solutions, and other issues. Broad based general knowledge of title concepts and issues, surveys, site plans, etc. is required. Must be highly computer literate; strong skills in MS Word and Outlook.
