Corporate Counsel
Duties: Provide practical legal advice to assist the organization in achieving its commercial goals while minimizing risks and enhancing compliance Demonstrate a deep knowledge on employment law and dispute resolution Develop and conduct legal training sessions to both colleagues and to internal clients on a wide variety of legal-related topics Draft, negotiate, and interpret (and provide advice in connection with) a wide variety of commercial and employment-related agreements Perform legal research and draft memoranda summarizing and applying the law on complex issues and in challenging and new areas of the law Interface with internal and external customers in all aspects of contract negotiation, representing **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. professionally at all times Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders Support and independently coordinate cross-divisional and cross-unit legal projects Manage and efficiently resolve disputes and litigation Interpret and provide guidance to clients to enable them to follow Company policies and internal procedures Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, Law degree and either CA state bar licensure or ability to practice in-house in CA required. 5+ years' practicing law, either in-house or in a law firm, with a primary focus on CA employment law. Experience advising clients on compliance with CA employment and other CA-specific laws (such as the CCPA). Candidate must be knowledgeable in various aspects of contract review and negotiation. Candidate must have a strong ethical orientation and awareness of legal ethics. Candidate must have strong legal research and analytical skills. Must have a strong ability to use discretion and use sound, independent judgment based on the fundamental goals of the organization. Must have a problem-solving orientation. Demonstrate the confidence and courage to provide unpopular advice when necessary. Must be curious and interested to learn about our business, operations, employees, customers and suppliers. Must enjoy working with other people. Must have a capacity for working hard, being efficient, being organized and being committed to making a positive impact on others and the organization. Must enjoy being part of a team, both in Oakland and the broader Americas and global legal team. Must be able to communicate succinctly and effectively with various audiences. Must be proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Must have experience using Lexis and/or Westlaw. Must be an agile learner who embraces new challenges and the opportunity to grow as an in-house lawyer. Being adept with different forms and types of technology is helpful. Having experience in project management and skills to drive projects to completion is also helpful.
