Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a seasoned Lead Municipal Court Attorney to head its Municipal Court practice in Parsippany, NJ. This position requires extensive experience in handling municipal court cases, particularly focusing on DWI/DUIs, disorderly person offenses, and related matters. The successful candidate will lead the Municipal Court practice and work collaboratively with the firm’s trial-tested attorneys to ensure high-quality representation for clients facing municipal charges.

Duties:

• Manage and oversee all aspects of municipal court cases, from initial investigation through trial and verdict.
• Represent clients in municipal courts across New Jersey, focusing on DWI/DUI cases, disorderly person offenses, and ordinance violations.
• Develop and implement effective defense strategies to advocate for clients and protect their rights.
• Collaborate with the legal team to discuss case strategies and share insights.
• Provide legal counsel and guidance to clients, maintaining strong communication throughout the legal process.
• Participate in firm-wide meetings and contribute to discussions on case progress, legal tactics, and overall team development.
• Attend and lead court appearances, hearings, and trials, advocating vigorously for client outcomes.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience handling municipal court cases, including DWI/DUIs and disorderly persons offenses.
• Strong courtroom advocacy skills, with a focus on municipal and criminal defense.
• Proven ability to manage a full caseload independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain legal matters to clients.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain client relationships with empathy and professionalism.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in the state of New Jersey, with the ability to practice in municipal courts.
• Certification as a Municipal Court Trial Attorney is highly preferred.

Skills:

• Strong leadership and managerial abilities to oversee a legal team and caseload.
• Deep understanding of New Jersey’s municipal court processes and procedures.
• Effective problem-solving and strategic thinking skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team of attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff.
• Proficiency with legal research and case management software.

Job Location:
