Senior Counsel – EPC The candidate will draft and negotiate engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreements, operations and maintenance (O&M) agreements, power purchase agreements (PPAs), supply agreements and subcontracts for PV solar and energy storage projects developed and/or built by Firm. Will advise EPC business on relevant legal, regulatory, and commercial risk. Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop and implement improvements to contracting processes and tools, including a suite of regularly updated template documents. Advise on construction-related disputes and develop and manage process to continuously improve the dispute management function. Manage and supervise outside counsel and non-attorney legal team members as necessary.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Juris Doctor degree and membership in NY, MA, IL, or CA bar. Must have 4-6 years of substantial, relevant legal experience at a top-tier law firm, sophisticated corporate legal department or combination of the two negotiating construction contracts including EPC agreements and PPAs. Track record of implementing process improvements to improve quality, efficiency and risk mitigation is required. Must have experience managing people and teams. Must have excellent organizational and time management skills. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey legal advice in a succinct and actionable format. Should have superb interpersonal skills and positive get-it-done attitude; including an unwavering commitment to teamwork and self-improvement. Refined business acumen and the ability to identify and implement practical solutions to complex business and legal problems is plus. Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations relevant to the development and construction of solar projects, including licensing requirements and labor regulations is desired. Experience working in a construction or renewable energy company, or with renewable energy or construction clients, including addressing common legal issues that arise with customers and subcontractors is preferred.
