Litigation Paralegal Duties: Handles plaintiffâ€™s personal injury matters only. Will assist in all aspects of legal case preparation and file management from commencement through settlement or trial. Draft routine or complex legal documents for review and use by attorneys. Review, organize, and summarize case materials such as insurance claim files, depositions, etc. Draft pleadings, subpoenas, discovery requests and responses, general correspondence, interrogatories/answers, other legal documents, etc. Submit and track requests for medical records, unpaid bills and No-Fault benefits. Contact medical providers to obtain updated records and unpaid bills for 1st Party cases. Assist in new client interviews, pre-trial investigations, trial preparation, including assistance with preparation of witnesses for deposition and/or trial. Prepare exhibits and other demonstrative evidence for use at trial. Provide assistance at trial.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: College Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred but will consider equivalent combination of education and yearsâ€™ related experience. 5+ yearsâ€™ experience as a Litigation Paralegal. Must have previous experience with 1st Party (No-Fault), 3rd Party, Catastrophic Injury, and Wrongful Death. Must have previous experience organizing and summarizing No-Fault claim files. Ability to independently perform a variety of complex paralegal duties with limited supervision. Solid understanding of legal and medical terminology. Experience organizing and summarizing No-Fault insurance claim files a must. Should have a thorough knowledge of law office procedures and local court/jurisdiction rules and procedures. Must be experienced with computers, experience on Apple computers and working in a paperless office a plus. Must have experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro, Office 365 suite and Dropbox. Must be able to independently perform a variety of complex paralegal duties with limited supervision and have a solid understanding of legal and medical terminology.
