Atkins Nuclear Solutions US is currently seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join the nuclear team in Oak Ridge, TN. JOB DESCRIPTION Under the general direction of the General Counsel, interprets laws and regulations, drafts opinions and conducts research with an emphasis on security, export control issues and Special Security Agreement (SSA) compliance for Atkins Nuclear Secured (ANS). Acts as Technology Control Officer. Reviews client contracts for liability and insurance issues; negotiates desired language. Acts as troubleshooter with clients on legal issues which may affect the company. Examines documents, statutes, decisions and ordinances affecting the company and resolves issues or escalates as necessary. Acts as agent of the company in various transactions, as authorized. Provide counsel and advice related to US and International export control and security laws. Draft transactional documents, review contracts and advise client during pendency of bid and proposal process. Develops policies, procedures and document templates pertaining to legal matters. Performs other such duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary. Provide governance and legal support to Corporate Secretary related to all Atkins Nuclear Secured Holdings Corporation Board of Directors responsibilities, such as legal opinions, governance and meeting preparation, joint partnerships, and wholly owned subsidiaries. Frequent travel may be required. Must be willing to work extended hours when necessary. Provides legal counsel and advice to technical and admin managers relative to legal matters in areas of responsibility/expertise. Acts under the general direction of the General Counsel. Legal advice provided in areas of responsibility/expertise is recognized as authoritative and may have an important impact on company activities and results. May directly supervise legal staff. Frequent interface with technical and admin managers relative to legal matters in areas of responsibility/expertise. Frequent contact with various outside counsels of clients and other outside counsels the firm may employ, and representatives of outside agencies. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE JD degree from an accredited law school. Minimum of fifteen years relevant experience, including fundamental knowledge of business, subcontract and/or contract review, negotiation and administration. Nuclear industry experience, particularly with the Department of Energy preferred. SPECIAL SKILLS Strong management and interpersonal skills, well organized and detail oriented, self-starter with positive attitude and ability to work under deadlines and pressure, customer focused with “can-do” attitude, and strong presentation and negotiation skills. PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS Must be licensed to practice law in one of the 50 states and be prepared to meet Tennessee Bar requirements for in-house practice.
