Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a Renewable Energy Project Development & Finance Associate with 3+ years of experience to join its Corporate practice. Location:

  • Washington, DC

Duties:

  • Advise clients on the development, finance, and transactions related to renewable energy projects.
  • Draft and negotiate power purchase agreements, asset purchase agreements, hedge contracts, construction contracts, and related documents.
  • Work with developers, investors, utilities, and corporate buyers in project development, financing, and management.
  • Assist with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other transactions within the renewable energy sector.
  • Provide legal counsel on regulatory, environmental, and financial issues in the renewable energy space.
  • Gain hands-on experience with client-facing work and manage projects from start to finish.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and practical legal solutions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of law firm experience in project development, finance, mergers & acquisitions, or commercial contracts.
  • Prior experience in renewable energy is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of power purchase agreements, asset/company purchase agreements, hedge contracts, or construction contracts is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the relevant state bar.

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in the relevant state(s) or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.

Skills:

  • Expertise in project development, finance, and energy-related transactions.
  • Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Excellent research and analytical abilities.
  • Effective client communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to understand and navigate complex regulatory environments.
  • Interest or experience in renewable energy law.
