Tax Manager - Research and Planning The candidate will be responsible for projects related to application of tax laws and preparation of one or all of the following: federal, state, or local tax returns. Requires a broad knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Maintains complete and accurate tax records, prepares reports, and provides recommendations. Reviews proposals for tax implications and recommends actions that meet the business plans while managing the tax liability. Assists in tax audits. May be involved with tax implications of mergers and acquisitions.Candidate must have excellent writing skills and must be able to draft and complete Tax Advice Memorandums with minimal supervision.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have BA/ BS or 4 years of work experience. Should have 6+ years of experience in the state and local tax area with an emphasis on sales and use tax research and planning, compliance, and audits. Thorough knowledge of State and Local Taxes, tax accounting, and the basis for the imposition of tax and have a thorough knowledge of state and local tax laws, rulings, and regulations; the capability to perform extensive tax research; compliance with tax laws and financial requirements; knowledge of financial systems; and tax planning to minimize Company cash flow and overall tax burden. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint), experience with on-line tax research tools, experience withlarge mechanized systems (i.e. billing, general ledger, and A/P) and familiarity with automated tax systems. Excellent technical tax skills and understand the importance of contemporaneous documentation. Must be a self-motivated person able to proactively identify opportunities to return shareholder value. CPA, MS in Taxation, JD degree preferred.
