Federal Public Defender The candidate will assists the attorneys in preparing cases for habeas petitions, evidentiary hearings, and appeals. Duties include: extensive document analysis including the location, assembly, summarization, compilation of documents; maintenance of document management database; extensive use of computer software (including Summation, Word, Lotus Notes); assistance in case preparation and incarceration issues; assistance in the drafting of legal pleadings including motions and petitions; handling of regularly scheduled duty responsibilities; assistance in collaboration with outside consultants/experts, investigators, attorneys and clients; and assistance to attorneys in file organization, preparation and exhibits for evidentiary proceedings. Applicants must possess a strong analytical ability. 3-5 years of relevant experience is required, preferably handling complex litigation and/or managing voluminous case files. Must be able to occasionally travel overnight and work non-traditional hours.
