Paralegal Duties: Assist and provide a range of legal support and administration to attorneys and other legal professionals. Perform legal research. Identify relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes and other pertinent material. Work with attorneys to develop legal arguments, motions, and other case filings. Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests. Organize exhibits, documents, evidence briefs and appendices. Prepare legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence. Check and edit legal forms and documents for accuracy. Create and maintain a case management database. Prepare written reports. Maintain law library. Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics, etc.). Perform other similar or related duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies is required (Bachelor's Degree is preferred). Completion of an ABA-approved paralegal certification program. 3+ years' experience as a litigation paralegal. Industry recognized certification from organizations such as NALA or AACP. Has ability to work independently and is able to take direction well. Exceptional attention to detail, highly organized and strong follow up skills. Ability to effectively prioritize work flow, multi-task and work under pressure. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; able to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment. Ability to maintain the integrity of confidential information. Strong computer skills including extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and legal database software. 35 wpm typing speed, excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Must be dependable, organized and professional.
