The Trademark Group within the AT&T Legal Department is seeking an experienced paralegal. The successful candidate will report to an Assistant Vice President Senior Legal Counsel of the IP Legal Group and be part of an experienced, collegial team. The paralegal will work independently and under supervision, as appropriate, to complete a variety of tasks, communicating directly with other attorneys and internal clients. Job Summary Assist in managing an international trademark portfolio. Conduct preliminary and comprehensive trademark searches both domestically and internationally, assess results, draft opinions and report on the availability of mark(s) for use and/or registration. Responsible for all aspects of U.S. trademark prosecution and maintenance including preparing and filing applications, Office Action responses and post registration filings (e.g., Sections 8, 9 and/or 15 Affidavits/Renewals). Oversee international filing, prosecution and maintenance of applications and registrations; collection and legalization of relevant information and documentation; and interacting directly with foreign counsel and clients. Assist in enforcement efforts by drafting and sending cease and desist letters as well as directing outside counsel. Coordinate foreign oppositions and cancellations, including managing correspondence with clients and outside counsel, gather evidence and legalize documents as needed. Advise, counsel and answer questions from clients about general trademark matters. Review and process outside counsel and other vendor invoices for accuracy and payment. Create and maintain electronic files of IP records, correspondence and documents. Docket deadlines and enter and update data in IP databases and generate reports as needed. Perform other duties and special projects as requested which may involve handling confidential information. Education Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree and ABA approved paralegal certification preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a trademark paralegal required; Hands-on experience in managing an international trademark portfolio is required; Work independently and as part of a team; Efficiently manage multiple tasks and deadlines; Effectively establish and adjust priorities; exceptional attention to detail; excellent judgment and use of discretion; Diligent, dependable and impeccable work ethic; Superior organizational and interpersonal skills; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Proficiency in an online trademark research database (e.g., CORSEARCH); Proficiency in a trademark records database; Demonstrates competency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to utilize all aspects of document management software efficiently Job ID 1844505-1 Date posted 10/01/2018
