Senior Legal Counsel
The candidate will be responsible for advising management, sales and tendering regarding legal and contractual risks through all phases of the contracts, including tender submittal, contract award, contract management, claims management, and dispute avoidance. Will be also responsible for advising the firm's tendering and management teams to negotiate integrated contracts in conjunction with alliance partners and customers. Responsible for the simultaneous negotiation of firm's EPC Contracts and alternate alliance integrated project contracts for combined firm's production systems and SURF offerings, from contract formation and negotiations to post-award management, and closeout. This consists of supporting multiple simultaneous global negotiations; ensuring contracts and operations reflect corporate mandates for insurance, compliance, liability, loss/damage, and distribution of risk; ensuring the Contracts comply with comprehensive legal and commercial contract risk management standards, providing support to support the project management team through execution; identifying and introducing opportunities to mitigate risks and manage claims; providing support to executive-level leadership regarding risk and claims exposure; and close-out efforts. Negotiates small and large EPC Contracts globally, on a simultaneous basis, with complex contracting strategies. Provides thorough commercial and legal expertise on EPC contract management, from the definition of contract requirements through contract award, execution, completion, and closeout. Drafts white papers, presentations, and other write-ups for executive stakeholders and project sponsors. Works closely with product line General Counsel and other legal team members to ensure alignment with Schlumberger's and firm's specific policies and governances throughout the contract lifecycle. Keeps leadership apprised of risk exposure and make recommendations at various stages throughout the project lifecycle to facilitate the strategic resolution of disputes and open claims on all EPC and related support contracts. Supports bid package creation, proposal analyses, contract and amendment drafting, contract negotiations, and contractor performance management, particularly as they relate to EPC and related contracts. Should have JD degree from an accredited US law school. Must have 10+ years of relevant experience in Legal, Contracts, and/or EPC Projects. Excellent legal writing skills, verbal, written and presentation communication skills is required. Specific experience with integrated EPC contract negotiation is preferred.
