Attorney - Commercial Contracts The candidate will provide legal guidance and advice that shapes strategic decision-making in the ever-changing electric industry. Will provide in-house legal counsel advice to internal clients and executive management on purchasing, construction, intellectual property and telecom matters. Work with customer services department on issues involving deposits, including surety bonds and letters of credit, and with outside counsel on issues involving customer bankruptcies, primarily involving adequate assurance of performance and preference claims. Work with advertising, marketing and communications on a variety of issues including copyright, event sponsorships, prize drawings, rights of publicity and privacy. Perform legal research and analysis. Drafting policies and procedures for business units. Develop effective working relationships with legal colleagues and internal clients.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have a Completion of a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited institution. Must be licensed to practice law, in good standing in the current state of practice. Must have 5+ years of experience as an attorney in private practice or as in-house counsel with significant experience in drafting and negotiating contracts. Experience supporting purchasing or construction clients preferred. Should have significant experience in negotiating and drafting commercial contacts. Must have significant experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial of contracts, including those involving the design and construction of facilities, the purchase of materials, equipment and other goods, the retention of consultants and other professional service providers, the licensing of software and technology.
