Legal Assistant Duties: Responsible reviewing accounts with an existing prior case. Perform research and file necessary pleadings to enter law firm’s appearance. Maintain a high level knowledge of collection workflow within firm for each state the firm operates in. Research accounts with an existing prior case. Draft substitution of counsel pleading for prior attorneys signature. File signed substitution of Counsel with the Court. Process issued/granted substitution of counsel. Move accounts into office workflow. Acts as information resource for legal staff and account representatives.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Paralegal certificate, Associates degree or above preferred. Previous experience in the legal industry preferred. Previous experience in the collections industry preferred. Ability to meet deadlines and perform tasks in a high-stress environment. Displays an ability to adjust quickly to varying priorities and maintains a positive attitude during change. Maintains a high degree of attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment. Practices a communication style of respect and accountability; owns mistakes without providing excuses. Ability to effectively communicate and troubleshoot complicated legal tasks. Consistently displays an enthusiasm for the Firm’s goals and objectives; supports a culture of accountability, ownership, and honesty. Displays a desire to learn and is coach-able; takes feedback well from a variety of sources. Exhibits a high standard of personal performance and excellence by completing assigned tasks quickly, correctly, and efficiently with minimal follow up from the Collection Manager. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel required.
